| www.Paris4u.net Has a Make Over
If you have been around for a while, you would have noticed that we redesigned the site in the past few weeks. Of course, as a result, the site had to remain offline for sometime but I am sure everyone will agree that the wait has been worthwhile.
A little bit about the reasons and the motivation for giving the site a renewed look! We had been receiving a lot of feedback and suggestions (Thank You!) on how we could make the portal more user-friendly and information oriented. So, we refurbished the design so that there was more room for content such as events, classifieds, forums an so on. Also, the Home page now is a single point of navigation across various sections of the site.
As the events keep getting added on the Home page, a smart Calendar lets you keep a tab on the events of your interest. Also, we have added a list of discussions that takes place on our forums which keeps getting updated as the threads are added.
This could not have been possible without you and we are grateful for your inputs as well as your patience while we were working on remodeling the site.
We hope you like the new look and feel. Feel free to drop a line if you have any suggestions or questions.
Happy browsing!
Ice Skating In Paris
Every winter, the illustrious Hôtel de Ville is home to an ice-skating event the popularity of which reaches far and wide. A large ice rink is created outside the hotel to the delight of Parisians and tourists alike. Not only is skating the perfect way to spend a winter's afternoon, but the experience is also free.
The building itself is a notable landmark, acting as the seat for the Mayor of Paris. While in the area, you can enjoy a stroll round one of the city's most diverse districts: the beautiful Place des Vosges, the bars of the Marais, and the Jewish quarter round the Rue des Rosiers, all of which are within a short walking distance of each other.

Member of The Month: Sanjeev Banabas
After living in New York City for a while, in 2005, I moved to Paris. It is a great place to live and I have really been enjoying my time here. From weekend trips to the countryside, to
simple walks around
Paris – I like the opportunity to be a sort
of long-term tourist.
At the same time, being in Paris for a longer period has
allowed me to get more involved. Early last year, I decided that
I needed to join a book club. I was tired of reading a book and then forgetting what I had read just a few weeks afterward, and thought that reading and discussing the book with others might help. After a cursory search, I did not find any English language book clubs here in Paris, so I decided to start one myself. Thus, the name “Book Club Paris”! In time we’ve grown to a fairly large group and meet every month to discuss the book we’ve chosen.
Being an English language book club (read: largely foreign/expatriate), we have a somewhat transient group of members. Many of the original participants have moved away from Paris, and new ones frequently join. The Paris4u site is perfect for our group, as it allows current and potential members to keep informed of the club’s activities.
Looking For Event Organizers
Paris4u is looking for event organizers who are interested in organizing events that promote their national culture. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is social, enthusiastic, a great organizer, imaginative, and likes to mingle with people.
Interested? We would like to hear from you!

| Interesting Bits About Paris |
 |
Did you know that Paris was once referred to as Lutèce. That's right! The expression Lutèce, which is the French form of Lutetia, was a Roman city where Paris now stands.
|
 |
Paris rests on the banks of the river Seine with a population of around 12 million. Paris is home to the most famous fashion houses in the world and hosts more than thirty million visitors a year.
|
 |
Paris is divided into two segments, namely the Right Bank and the Left Bank by the Seine River. The right bank of Paris is drained by Droite River, while River Gauche flows through the left bank of the city. From either banks, Paris is about 10 to 11 kilometers. So, it takes only about 2 hours to cover the entire city.

To see the Summer Sky
Is Poetry, though never in a Book it lie -
True Poems flee.
~Emily Dickinson
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~Andrew Wyeth
Are you one who likes the sun blazing or you prefer it subdued?? Would you agree with Dickinson or Wyeth??
Voice your opinion on whether youd rather have the 'hot' summer or the 'cool' winter.
